Cancer Awareness Training at Barli

Today
,a group of doctors, Dr. Digpal Dharkar, Dr. Baldev Dimbani, Dr. Rakesh
Taran, Dr. Aviramavat, Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Dr. Amit Joshi and Mrs Mona,
from “Indore Cancer
Foundation” conducted a training programme at Barli Development
Institute for Rural Women, Indore. The topics of this programme were
Cancer detection and various related tests, myths about Cancer,
prevention and treatment of Cancer, and the facilities at the Cancer
Foundation.
The programme was organised by Barli Development Institute For Rural
Women and more than 100 participants from 46 villages of Dhar, Alirajpur,
Khargone, Khandwa and Dewas of Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra and Chatisgarh
attended this programme. Most of these women trainees had never gone to
school and it was the first time in their lives to participate in such a
programme.
Dr. Dharker talked
about the treatment of Cancer, the latest technological developments,
the facilities at
Indore Cancer Foundation and that he conducts breast cancer
surgeries for poor patients at Mission Hospital at the cost of Rs
12,000, all inclusive. Dr. Baldev gave detailed information about
symptoms and causes of Cancer, Dr. Rakesh Taran talked about treatment
of Cancer through Chemotherapy, Dr. Aviramavat gave information on oral
cancer its and prevention, Dr. Gaurav Gupta dispelled myths about
Cancer, Dr. Amit Joshi discussed the importance of early detection of
Cancer and Mrs Mona interacted with the women to answer their personal
questions.
The Director of the Institute, Dr. (Mrs.) Janak Palta McGilligan,
welcomed the guests and gave the introduction of the training workshop.
Mr Jimmy McGilligan, manager of the Institute also attended the workshop
and Mrs Chanda Pipria thanked all the doctors and the
Indore Cancer
Foundation.
