UNEP Award

UNEP conferred the Barli Institute with the Global 500 Roll of Honour for outstanding environmental achievements for helping to eradicate Guinea worm by working in 302 villages of Jhabua district. This award was presented in the The Earth Summit held at Rio De Janiero in 1992.



OBE

In 2008 , (late) Mr. James McGilligan , the ex-Manager of the Institute was conferred with OBE (Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty, Queen Eluzabeth II at Windsor Castle, UK for his services to social cause and use of alternative energy in rural communities in India .



PadmaShree

The Government of India in 2015 awarded Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan, the ex-Director of the Institute with the PadmaShri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.



GuideStarIndia award

Barli Development Institute was awarded the prestigious Gold Award Certification for Organizational Transparency, Efficiency and Effectiveness conferred by the world-renowned GuideStar India Organization.

Barli Institute’s application was one of 716 who entered for the award. Barli scored among the top 33 organizations who were awarded the Gold Certification by the GuideStar India Organization. In order to receive this award, the Barli Institute went through a rigorous process of screening, validation and evaluation of the quality of its organizational functioning, management, and reporting practices.



Recognition & partnership with a UN Forum

The Barli Development Institute for Rural Women (BDIRW) was recently honoured by the Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR) (an international forum constituted, guided and funded by FAO-UN) when the Chief Operating Officer of BDIRW, Dr Yogesh D. Jadhav was appointed as member of the 34-member global Steering committee of GFAR (representing India, South Asia and Asia Pacific countries). As a member of the new steering committee of GFAR, Dr Jadhav is regularly invited to participate in their meetings hosted by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organisation at their headquarters in Rome. The meetings are regularly held each year, which is attended by renowned professionals, researchers and practitioners from leading developmental partners and institutions across the world - who assemble at the UN-FAO headquarters and discuss & deliberate on the imminent global issues related to research and actions on national and global environment, including forests, food security and agricultural sustainability.



Women Achiever's award

Mrs. Tahera Jadhav receive the 2018 FLO WOMEN ACHIEVER'S AWARD for Excellence in Education from FICCI Ladies Organization (FICCI-FLO, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Ladies Organisation, Indore Chapter) on 5th September 2018 (Celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India) . The award was presented by Hindustani Classical Vocalist Ms.Kalapini Komkali (daughter of world-renowned Padma Bhushan Lt. Pandit Kumar Gandharva) at LabhMandapam (Indore) in presence of about 800 representatives from educational fraternity, including teachers, philanthropists, educationists and corporate sector heads.
